I’ve largely been silent on here because this past year at my place of employment has been pretty darn traumatic. From being the victim of racism (in Nigeria no less), to unsupportive colleagues and then being forced to work closely with and train a bully who consistently attempted to paint himself the victim and of course, others so readily believed and having to do it all with a “smile” pretty much muted and masked my true feelings. Needless to say, I couldn’t wait for the end of the school year and finally being rid of that very toxic environment. I’ll speak more about the mind-numbing ordeal this past school year has been in a different post. So now, we are getting ready to embark on a new journey at a new school and in a new country. We are going back to China, or at least I am. This will be my husband’s first time there. However, we are both super duper excited about our new home and new school family who have already been incredibly supportive and welcoming. The tone set in the beginning is quite telling and speaks volumes regarding how the rest of the school year is likely to go.
We are currently awaiting the processing of our visas and living in an Airbnb property which is no easy task here in Abuja. But we are upbeat and excited.
Annnnnnd, I will be starting a doctoral program in the next month which is another exciting beginning. Like the saying goes, when one door closes, a ton of other ones open. Well, doors are opening all over the place and we are gladly stepping through them. Stay tuned for more from this next chapter.
You and Oche will be fine. Every experience we go through in life into matter how difficult or good is preparing us for something that we needed to learn from it. Stay positive, love hard, and breath deep. The universe is still working and moving to insure that all you need and desire will be provided. Love you, Lady.
